Bumperpodcast #189: Hard to listen to

Natty Bumpercar has some guests on this week’s show … Some guests that seem to be totally focused on breaking the Bumperpodcast.

Do you break things? Let us know by sending an email to bumperpodcast@nattybumpercar.com.

    About This Episode

In this chaotic and hilarious episode of Bumperpodcast, Natty Bumpercar attempts to interview two very young guests, Oliver and Emerson (Emmy), with unpredictable results. The children struggle to follow podcast etiquette, touching equipment, making potty jokes, and punching each other while Natty tries desperately to keep the interview on track. Emmy sings "Happy Birthday" and the kids attempt to tell jokes about pigs, cows, and alligators with varying degrees of coherence. What was meant to be a sweet interview with kindergarten-aged guests becomes a comedic disaster as Natty learns that interviewing small children is perhaps the most difficult challenge the Bumperpodcast has ever faced. The episode ends with Natty declaring it "unlistenable" and "untenable" while bidding farewell to the chaotic tiny guests.

    Bumperpodcast #187: The balance

Natty Bumpercar has a box next to him that is making a lot of noise – but – mostly, he talks about the balance of organization and creativity in his life.

How is your life? Let us know by sending an email to bumperpodcast@nattybumpercar.com.

    About This Episode

In episode 187 of Bumperpodcast, host Natty Bumpercar records from a noisy basement with a dehumidifier running, embracing the chaotic audio quality rather than doing test recordings. He explains his recent absence from podcasting, detailing the challenges of moving headquarters and dealing with the disorganization that followed. Natty shares his struggle to balance getting his life organized with his creative need to make content, comparing the process to spinning expensive plates overhead. He reflects on how he goes "crazy" and "verklempt" when he doesn't create regularly, and discusses the delicate equilibrium between life organization and his threshold for creative pain. The episode showcases Natty's signature rambling, improvisational style as he contemplates emotions, friendship, and the word "please."

    Memorable Quotes

    Blibber. Blabber. Blubber!

    About This Episode

In this chaotic episode of Bumperpodcast, Natty Bumpercar's plans for a structured comeback show are derailed when Robot unexpectedly returns after being stored in a closet with dead batteries. Robot reveals that someone gave him new batteries, much to Natty's dismay, as he had hoped Robot would stay powered down longer. Meanwhile, Aloysious J. Pig chimes in with his support, though he's dealing with a cold that makes him sound "husky like a dog." The episode devolves into classic Bumperpodcast chaos as the characters bicker about who should be on the show and what makes it entertaining, with Robot getting stuck in binary mode and everyone accusing each other of just doing "blibber blabber blubber."

    About This Episode

In episode 161, Natty Bumpercar records while driving hands-free and shares his stream-of-consciousness thoughts on everything from talking to oneself to the podcast boom. Fresh off a brutal winter at headquarters with sky-high heating bills and seemingly windowless offices, Natty celebrates the arrival of spring weather. He goes on entertaining tangents about ferocious animals, dinosaur taxonomy, and whether the plural of brachiosaurus might be "brachiosauri." This rambling, affectionate solo episode showcases Natty's spontaneous comedy style as he reconnects with listeners after some time away.

    Memorable Quotes

“I'm assuming that everyone talks to themselves as much as I talk to myself, is this true or not? You'll have to let me know, but what I'm saying is you can record yourself, so that's good, and then you, look, you've got a podcast!”

    — Natty Bumpercar

“I've missed you guys, and I don't even mean just missed you a little bit. I mean, ferociously. Ferociously like a badger. Ferociously like a wolverine. Ferociously like the most ferocious dinosaur to ever roam the land.”
