    About This Episode

Natty Bumpercar kicks off 2015 with episode 203 of Bumperpodcast, offering listeners a meta look at what the show is all about. After visitors from the future crashed last week's year-end wrap-up, Natty uses this episode to explain the podcast's format and philosophy. He discusses the rotating cast of puppet characters including Pig, Doodle Poodle, and Robot, shares insights from a recent comedy open mic performance, and reflects on the improvisational nature of both stand-up comedy and the podcast itself. It's a lighthearted, stream-of-consciousness episode that perfectly captures the show's spontaneous spirit and Natty's comedic approach to making listeners' weeks "awesomer."

    About This Episode

In episode 187 of Bumperpodcast, host Natty Bumpercar records from a noisy basement with a dehumidifier running, embracing the chaotic audio quality rather than doing test recordings. He explains his recent absence from podcasting, detailing the challenges of moving headquarters and dealing with the disorganization that followed. Natty shares his struggle to balance getting his life organized with his creative need to make content, comparing the process to spinning expensive plates overhead. He reflects on how he goes "crazy" and "verklempt" when he doesn't create regularly, and discusses the delicate equilibrium between life organization and his threshold for creative pain. The episode showcases Natty's signature rambling, improvisational style as he contemplates emotions, friendship, and the word "please."

    Blibber. Blabber. Blubber!

    About This Episode

In this chaotic episode of Bumperpodcast, Natty Bumpercar's plans for a structured comeback show are derailed when Robot unexpectedly returns after being stored in a closet with dead batteries. Robot reveals that someone gave him new batteries, much to Natty's dismay, as he had hoped Robot would stay powered down longer. Meanwhile, Aloysious J. Pig chimes in with his support, though he's dealing with a cold that makes him sound "husky like a dog." The episode devolves into classic Bumperpodcast chaos as the characters bicker about who should be on the show and what makes it entertaining, with Robot getting stuck in binary mode and everyone accusing each other of just doing "blibber blabber blubber."

    Bumperpodcast #183: Gummy New Year!

Natty Bumpercar has a stuffy nose. He talks about the new year being a hill that he is ready to climb … Until he has a piece of gum.

Do you like gum? Let us know by sending an email to bumperpodcast@nattybumpercar.com.

There are no wheels on this show!

    About This Episode

In Episode 183, Natty Bumpercar kicks off the new year with a stuffy nose and an optimistic hill-climbing analogy that quickly derails. What starts as a motivational metaphor about starting at the bottom and going up becomes complicated when Natty discovers a piece of gum with paper stuck to it. The episode follows Natty's struggle with the gum while attempting to explain the purpose of Bumperpodcast to listeners. Between discussing cavity-fighting gum innovations and lamenting constant sickness, Natty concludes that 2014 might just be "the year of the rude Natty Bumpercar." This short, stream-of-consciousness episode perfectly captures the show's improvised and charmingly chaotic style.

    Memorable Quotes

“We're at the bottom of the hill and so the only place we can go on the hill is up unless I suppose we want to go somehow around the hill.”

Natty Bumpercar: well happy happy happy happy to you happy to you and you and you and you and you hi bumper podcast it's me natty bumper car and i have a stuffy nose because what better way to start off the new year than with a stuffy nose that means that's how you know that things are going to go uphill from where you are at the point on the hill where you're starting at you know because like wait so if you're on the hill you're starting the new year okay this is our analogy over the new year is a hill and we're at the bottom of the hill and so the only place we can go on the hill is up unless i suppose we want to go somehow around the hill um we don't have any kind of shovel or pickaxe so we cannot go through the hill uh we also don't have any mode of transportation to like carry us over the hill we have our really our only option is to go up the hill so that's pretty exciting you know uh i i think it portends some good things i uh oh well here's a piece of gum i guess it would be my first piece of gum for the new year a little piece of uh bubble bubble bubble gum okay i'm just that's not oh oh all the paper sticking to the gum i can't and now i can't well this is no good thing how do i like it's breaking off in little itty bitty pieces inside the piece of gum and uh uh now i don't think there's any um almost almost got it wait to no no oh okay wait okay yeah that's good we got a big piece off but there's still paper in the gum that's not what i want my first piece of gum of the new year to be and i gotta sit here and pick paper out of gum that's not the kind of guy i am the kind of guy who opens up a piece of gum and just eats it eats it right up wow how is how is how is you bumper podcast you know what answer away because i am going to be eating my new paper-free piece of gum oh it's delicious it might be watermelon it might be just sugar i think it's probably just sugar have we invented gum yet that um that kills cavities or like plaque killing gum like maybe put a little bit of grit inside the gum so that it'll take care of your teeth this is a lot juicier than i was expecting it to be i'm not gonna lie i probably should not have um started chewing this piece of gum while i was talking to you so that's a point off on me so i'm already starting the new year off with negative points um do you have any points yet oh that's funny you're asking what the whole point of the bumper podcast is well the whole point of the bumper podcast is it's a weekly fun time our gum is terrible wow where you get to hang out with me natty bumper car and you know we talk about things we discuss things a lot of the time it seems to be um how sick i am pretty constantly sick upper respiratory nose throat ear ear nose throat i need to go to an ent now he'll take care of me wow what a horrible mistake so at this point we're on the hill and the only place we can go is up the hill however what we've decided to do is just sit down at the base of the hill and not go anywhere we're not even on the hill we're on the hill we're on the hill the hill anymore i think we're pre-slope we're like on the path to the hill we're not even we might still be in our cars because well who eats a piece of gum i'm rude i feel very rude right now maybe this is me maybe 2014 is the year of the rude natty bumper car the bumper podcast the wheels i would say the wheels have come off but they really haven't because they're stuck on there with gum oh this is a gum this is bad idea i have a lot of bad ideas

    You are like a bucket!

    About This Episode

In this hilarious episode of Bumperpodcast, host Natty Bumpercar goes on an extended comedic riff about buckets after revealing a failed promotional campaign called the "Natty Bumpercar Bucket Brigade." The episode features Natty's increasingly absurd suggestions for bucket uses, from makeshift helmets at baseball games to protection during snowball fights. He enthusiastically describes how buckets can be conversation starters, step stools, rain hats, and even vessels for making Grammy Bumpercar's special mud pie recipe. This solo episode showcases Natty's signature rambling, improvisational comedy style as he explores every possible bucket-related scenario he can imagine.

    Memorable Quotes

“I've got a frog in my bucket. I'd be like that's crazy what's his name whatever it's just a conversation starter.”

    — Natty Bumpercar

“The greatest thing with buckets is there's not a lot of rules about them you can do a lot of stuff with buckets.”

Natty Bumpercar: hey bumper podcast it's me natty bumper car what is in your bucket today you're you don't have a bucket you're everyone's supposed to be we were supposed to be sending out buckets it was our big end of the summer uh thing that we were supposed to be sending out like promotional item uh it was called the uh natty bumper car bucket brigade is what we're gonna call you guys and it doesn't have anything to do with fire it's not that kind of bucket brigade but it's like a uh a bucket that you um you know it was it was it had the logo on it and everything and then you guys could go and put whatever you wanted to in your bucket so that uh at the beginning of every episode i would be able to uh lean in and ask you hey you what is in your bucket and then you and you know it's fun so you could be like i've got a frog in my bucket i'd be like that's crazy what's his name whatever it's just a conversation starter you know a lot of homes and this is in other countries obviously more advanced countries than our own i would have buckets right there there's at the front door we're at the living room maybe the uh the dining room not never in the kitchen because we don't want to confuse and put you a lot of hot foods in it or anything unless that's what your bucket's for you know that's the thing too the greatest thing with buckets is there's not a lot of rules about them you can do a lot of stuff with buckets let's say and we're gonna really flip the script here that you have to get something that's up on a shelf you know what you're gonna do is you're gonna flip your bucket over and step on it you can do that let's say that it's raining outside a lot and you're gonna have to buy a new blanket you don't want to get your new haircut um wet messed up you just got your hair did flip that bucket over put it over your head you got a hat and not only a hat but a hat that uh is going to keep the rain off it's going to keep the sun off if you if you if you're thinning of hair then you it's going to protect you up there uh if you're at a baseball game a lot of people wear buckets at baseball games i'm sure you've seen this it's all over the place because they don't want to get hit in the head with a ball or maybe somebody, they're at an opposing team's stadium and, you know, oh, I got it, look at that guy down there. And if somebody's going to throw something at them, there's a bucket. They're fine. They're safe. Let's say you get into some sort of snowball fight. This is another good, and sometimes accidentally, but the snowballs have ice in them. And that can cause an injury. That can cause blunt force trauma to your head. You're going to go to the hospital for that. You're going to be kept there, very disruptive of your day. But you have a bucket on, you're fine. You're protected. Now let's get back to, like, normal bucket things. Like, what can I put in my bucket? Again, anything. You can make stuff in your bucket. Like, let's say you've got some, some dirt, all right? I'm going to put a little bit of water in there. I've got mud, just like that. And then, you know, if people would say, what are you doing? Why did you put, why did you make mud in your bucket? It's all dirty now. You could say, hey, listen, I'm opening a mud pie stand here. Back off. My gran, it's my, it's my nonna's recipe. My, my grandma, my, my grandma. I don't know any other words. My mommy, mammy, mammy, no. Grammy, Grammy. Grammy, I like Grammy. We'll go with Grammy. It's my Grammy bumper cars special recipe for mud pie. And then I put the dirt in, and then I put the water in, and you stamp on it. It's very good. And I mixed it perfectly. And look at this. It's beautiful. You can put marbles in a bucket. If you're into collecting seashells, I've seen people. I've seen people collect seashells in their buckets. Okay, you can write things on pieces of paper, little slips of paper, and drop them in the bucket. And then they're just in there for you. You can walk up and down at intersections and hold your bucket out. Maybe somebody's going to put some money into it. Maybe. I don't, I mean, I see, again, it's very open-ended and it's, it's, it's a great adventure. And I'm sorry that we haven't gotten those out to you yet. So listen, Bumper Podcast, buckets are the new thing. Natty Bumper Car, Bumper Podcast, Bucket Brigade, booyah!
